About Me
My name is Carol Inglis and I’m a professional flutist and flute teacher in DC/NoVa. I am a musician in The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” and an active freelancer in the DMV. Originally from Los Angeles, I received my Undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara followed by a Master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where I held a graduate assistantship position. As a student, I competed in major competitions such as the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition and the Music Teachers National Association’s Young Artist Woodwind Competition, and was a summer fellow at festivals such as The National Repertory Orchestra, The Brevard Music Festival, and Kent/Blossom Music Festival. I have been a clinician for competitions held by the Music Teachers National Association and the Mid-Atlantic Flute Association.
Music education is something I’ve always been passionate about, and I take pride in watching my students grow both as musicians and as people. I firmly believe that through music education, students are taught invaluable life skill such as listening to and processing instructions, learning to work towards goals, and figuring out how to effectively work with peers in high pressure situations. My goal as a teacher is to challenge my students in ways they may not be challenged at school or at work, and with patience, consistency, and guidance, I believe that anyone can become a great flute player.
I teach students of all ages and believe that it is never too late to start taking flute lessons!
Lessons in-person and online
My home studio is conveniently located in Fort Hunt, Virginia (Just south of Old Town Alexandria). The best results come from in-person lessons, but virtual lesson can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
